Marketing and Audience Engagement

Marketing is another side of journalism that I'm not super involved with, but I do have a few examples of ways I've tried to create engagement or gotten comments on my articles.

Online Quizzes

For the home page of our news website, I've made a few different quizzes using the SNO tests extension. The first one was just a general knowledge trivia. The other two were active at the same time, themed around our school's musical, Wizard of Oz.

Comments

Our website doesn't get a lot of comments and engagement, so it's always nice when an article has a comment. One of the articles I wrote this year was a profile on our district's new SRO. He left a comment on that article, which always helps analytics.

Ending Question

I wrote an article about the weirdest Guinness World Records, and I ended it with a little question prompting people to leave comments relevant to the article's topic and suggesting a follow-up article.
