Broadcast Journalism

I enjoy making and editing videos, but I haven't created any journalism specific projects. Since 2020, I've exercised my video production skills by creating "edits" of different TV show characters on Instagram. I compile clips from the show, edit them together, and put them to music.  While it is fictional, so it's not journalism, I feel these edits show off my skills in telling a story in a video format. I spend a lot of time thinking about which song will best fit the characters/characters featured. With these videos, the goal is to show my love for certain characters and enhance the story already told in the shows.

Below are the edits I'm the most proud of in terms of production quality and end result, but you can view all of the ones I've created on my Instagram here.

Alexa and Katie - I’m Only Me When I’m With You by Taylor Swift

This showcases the amazing best-friendship from the show Alexa and Katie. I really like the intro I created for this one, with the scrolling text before the actual title appears. I also used a different app than I usually use to make this edit, so the sound quality isn't as good as the others.

The Office - Jim and Pam: Still in Love by Jason Chen

Jim and Pam are the best couple from The Office in my opinion and I feel like the song I used describes their relationship perfectly. This is one of the earlier edits I've made, but one I'm still super proud of how it turned out.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - Fitzsimmons: Jump Then Fall by Taylor Swift

This edit is of my favorite couple on my favorite TV show, which is part of why I love it so much. I also think my song choice was great and now only associate that song with this couple.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - Daisy Johnson: Girl On Fire by Alicia Keys

This one is from the same show as the one above. It's also only one of two edits that aren't about a romantic relationship, the second one being the Alexa and Katie one above. One thing I'm particularly proud of on this edit is the timing of some of the scenes with the music. It always takes a lot of fine-tuning to get that.
