Book Synopsis:
Sierra came to Sunset Beach for relaxation—not for world-class surfing and certainly not for romance! When a wealthy friend offers Sierra Jensen a vacation at an oceanfront beach house, she envisions a quiet retreat where she can plan her next move. Instead, she arrives at the start of the noisy surfing competitions and is surprised to learn that her friend had an ulterior motive—namely, introducing Sierra to Jordan Bryce, the tenant staying below them. Jordan is a photographer whose lens and attention are focused on the surfers, and he is not willing to let anyone get in his way of landing the next cover shot for Surf Days magazine. Sierra and Jordan came to Sunset Beach looking for different things. But as the surf pounds the North Shore, will they discover something better than either of them had imagined?
My Review:
4/5 stars. It's been a while since I've read a RJG book, but when I saw that my school's library had this one, I picked it up. This is a continuation of the Sierra Jensen series that takes place a few years after that series ended. This was a cute story, but I wish that more happened. I enjoyed it the whole time, but it felt like it was over as soon as the plot really got going. The banter between the characters was great.
There were a lot of great and vivid sensory details throughout this book. Not just visual, but also describing the sounds and feeling of things. I could tell that the author had been to Hawaii before and was basing it off her own experiences. The descriptions of the setting helped pull me in and feel like I was there. Although I've never been to Hawaii, I could picture it.
Like I already mentioned, Sierra and Jordan had lots of great banter and interactions. There wasn't really much romance until the very end, but there was definitely chemistry. Their conversations were so natural and comfortable.
Going back to the plot, it definitely felt like something was missing. I know the book was focused on just the vacation, but not a lot really happened. It was hard to tell how many days had passed over the course of the story because it was kind of the same routine over and over again. When it finally seemed like it was going somewhere and both characters had made decisions about their futures, the book was over.
